Which sucks, because all that stuff is just postponed, thus defying the meaning of 'holiday'.
I'd rather be on a sunny island right now, anyway, instead of behind my desk in foggy and rainy Hamburg, Germany.
Any suggestions where to spend the next holiday? :D |

This is exactly what I am doing right now. Somehow its sunny and warm in Scotland, and Great Britain is an island at the end of the day
Youtube is blocked; working via desk stations on a terminal server :/

Dozens of them in the kitchen from the garden (I love my flat, ground floor cheap student flat, but I have a 5*4*4 room and an honest to god gas Oven/stove). Ever since my old place's Lavatory got overrun by insects after the window was left open overnight..... Had to use a hoover to clean them up after I turned into an Insectoid Gas Chamber to make Robert A Heinlein proud.... on a related note: with a lighter, you can turn a can of Raid into an improvised flamethrower that inflicts instant damage to those critters instead the D.O.T .of regular poison. But be careful, this gave me a huge burn stain on my old wall, with a faint white shadow of a spider in the middle- somewhat like the human shadow stains on the walls in Hiroshima.

Sacrifices have to made in the fight against the Arachnid menace.
You could just get a cat. Mine basically lives on anything that has more than 4 legs.
On the other hand, the damage to your face caused by same cat might or might not be the same or worse than by a bottle explosion. |

On the other hand, the damage to your face caused by same cat might or might not be the same or worse than by a bottle explosion. I have a cat, too. Although biological warfare is outlawed by the UN, it is quite effective to turn the forces of nature against itself. Also, You should know that there is a civil war running amongst spiders, Pholcidae vs. Tegenariae. Pholcidae are those very thin cellar spiders that have their net in some corners and never leave it. Tegenaria are those badass huge black hairy spiders that keep running around and sitting on your face while you sleep. The web of the Pholcida is very strong, and if a Tegenaria runs into it, she is basically dead, even tough she is much bigger than the the other spider. tl;dr: Pholcidae are even more effective allies than cats.
BUT they are also spiders.
Fighting fire with fire is only effective as long as you don't burn your house down in the process. Meaning in this case flooding it with slightly less disgusting spiders :D
On the other hand, I assume none of you have any mosquito problems? |

[Rant Post] It's definitely not my week.
Yesterday I slipped on a patch of wet grass, hit my back on a root and soiled my good suit and shoes so I have to get them to cleaning.
In the evening wanted to make brownies for my colleagues - they are more like blackies now.
This morning my umbrella tore apart and now I'm sitting in a train soakingly wet.

How is everyone else doing? I think the bad brownies is the worst part. I know those days. Hopefully cleaning isnt too pricey. Dry cleaning can stack on those expensive weaves. Cheer up. The brownies maybe blackies but chalk it up to experience. Stay positive!
Cleaning will be about 40 Euros.
Also, brownies got crispy because I worked on the car while baking them and forgot the time.
Best thing is I found out my catalytic converter is most likely done for and I will need a new one. Given that I drive such a rare car, a new OEM one will be about 1200 Euros.
As I said, not my week.

My trusty '04 Mazda RX-8 I am 'refurbishing' right now.
There are only 7000 sold units in Germany, of which I reckon only 2/3 are still alive. Bad thing is OEM parts have to be imported from Japan, since they are mady by Denso/Mitsubishi.
Currently thinking about just gutting the catalytic with a crowbar until I can source a cheaper alternative that will not kill the car like the ones on ebay... |

Do-able, to be bluntly honest it really depends on how much money the company in itself (or the people working there with the same provider) bring in on a monthly basis.
Don't think anything like this will happen, anyway. Mails also get to phones via Edge, and that's all IT cares for |

They're working on a new album, so you'll have the opportunity soon, I guess :)
They also wanted to bring their side project to a theater in Hamburg, but the theater bailed.
There is a bonus track on Break the Silence ('A Storm to Come'), which wraps up that sound. Again pretty awesome. I hope they go for that kind of sound on the next record. |

Nope, but you can still set it to red while chewing through the ship to get to the pod |

As far as job interviewers are concerned, always remember that they are like little spiders: They look scary, but are usually more afraid of you then you are of them. Usually, they are under huge pressure from their superiors to find the right person for the job, yet still they are human and want to look good and confident to any outsider- including the applicants. If you keep this in mind and talk to them like you would to any other regular human- open and mostly honest with a certain amount of respect and esteem - there is actually nothing much that could go wrong. If the interviewer doesn't like that attitude, chances are good that his corporation sucks balls and it would have probably been the wrong job for you anyway.
It was by far not my first interview, and that is mostly how I talk to people, anyway.
Only I never talked to HR people, but mostly the Managers directly, because shipping companies tend to be small. The last one was just particularly out of the world. |

It could still hold water. I am 23, working full time to fund my first own place in the near future and to be able to AFFORD (notice how this is kind of congruent to 'EFFORT'?) some nice things for my girlfriend and myself, while the felt majority of people my age either doesn't care about that funny thing called "working" that only old and/or poor people do, or already have 3+ children to live off state money.
In my opinion, too many parents can't say "No". Luckily mine did (and I love them even more for it than I already do), because otherwise I would probably still run to my father and beg for some money to spend on luxury ****.
Also, there is this thing called "sense of achievement" that those poor people will probably never be able to feel. Imagine how incredibly awesome it felt for me to finally be able to buy my dream car at the age of 22 from my own money. |

At least there is a little money left over for me to play EVE.........that's about it, really.
Just to be clear, I wasn't talking about disabled people at all, just my generation that thinks working is optional. Too many of those iPhone-wielding, Starbucks-drinking asshats around that never lift a finger. |

Morning. Same here, though at least I have a day off on Friday.
I took it 2 weeks ago because I was invited to hold 3 presentations at the school I graduated from in 2010. After giving me a firm invitation, now turns out the presentations are cancelled because of a lack of students attending.
Which they figured out yesterday. Bunch of dilletants, really.
So now I have a day off on Friday and nothing to do.

Not a ship yard, never had anything to do with them except trying to broker newbuilding contracts.
I'll be handling operational matters of chartered (mostly) container vessels at a ship broking company (same one I am working at now, but different name after the merger that is to come soon). |

Also, I just got turned down for a 15 minute flat inspection because all 150 (lol wat) slots were already filled.
I have the creeping feeling that this search will take a long time. Since I am a (ship, but who cares) broker myself, I might just promise some broker 4 rents commission in cash to make this work.
Oh, and my ID has expired 5 years ago - should probably renew.

Turns out spicy sauce and jalapenos together are a bit overkill, because 'spicy' seems to mean 'Napalm with a side of sun flare' for them.

I could take the car to work, but there are a few arguments against this: 1. I don't have a parking slot in the company 2. It consumes 15l/100km 3. It's not a daily driver at all 4. It takes the same time or longer as transport
So either way, I'm screwed.
That is why I am desperately searching for a flat closer to work. |

Yay, I am online again. More or less.
After my own computer died a few weeks ago, I lent one from a buddy, which, needless to say, didn't run eve and also had problems going online.
No problem, though, since I had my mobile. Yeah, HAD, until it got stolen out of my pocket during a festival.
Got back home, seond computer i had lent also broke.
Now I am sitting here with an old eee pc 900hd from which I removed the 'designed for Windows XP' badge and installed a Windows 7 Ultimate on :)
It has a whopping 64MB of graphics card ram and almost, ALMOST runs flash videos smoothly :D
Might try to get the old lady back on her feet if I have some spare coin next month - I think the grphics card died; shouldn't be too expensive...
How is everyone else doing around here?
(can't be arsed to read the 850 pages I missed on this little, somehow lovable abomination of a laptop :)

So, guess what?
After my flat got increasingly smelly with an undefinable stench the last weeks, I went searching for its origin.
So today I found out what it was, when I pulled apart my kitchen. Burst pipe in the wall, totally wet, and now my whole flat smells like **** (literally!) since the stench isn't held back by the freezer anymore.
Means I'll likely have to move out for at least 3 weeks, if the damage is as extensive as it looks. Probably I'll just stay at my old peoples' and commute 2*1,5 hours each day for the time...
Yay me.
